The device permits free movement over a range of four Metres, from the anchorage point, locking to arrest a fall within 1200 mm of its actuation position. When using such devices, the work positions must be examined to ensure enough 'free-fall' room for actuation to safely prevent injury from impacts to the user. Its tough, aluminium alloy housing prevents damage to the braking mechanism; even in extreme conditions. The AB5 exceeds ANSI -25 degree C cold test and the 45 degree C heat test and is proven against Ultra Violet degradation. Its 5m, webbing, reel line is water repellent and made from 28mm polyester with a breaking strength of 2350Kg. Inertia devices work in a similar fashion to inertia reel, car seat belts; locked by rapid acceleration, beyond the range of permitted adjustment.Free falling bodies accelerate at 9.81 Metres/second/second and inertia braking systems are designed to permit movement (depending on the model) representing around half this rate of acceleration.
